Defending champions Holmwood crushed William Knibb by nine wickets to record their second victory, as second round action continued in the Grace/Headley Cup cricket competition at Holmwood yesterday.
Meanwhile, Nickoy Samuels of St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Adrian Thompson of Godfrey Stewart scored centuries in other matches yesterday.
At Holmwood: Andre Creary (4-21) and Marlon Johnson (3-7) combined to dismiss William Knibb for 109. National Under-15 player Rajiv Service, son of former national player Phillip Service, topscored for William Knibb with 44.
In reply, Johnson hit 52, national Under-19 player Jeffrey Scott, 32 not out and Creary, 15 not out, led the way for Holmwood, who made 114 for one.
AT STETHS: For the second straight match, STETHS were well on their way to victory, against Christiana, but rain intervened at tea to give them their second draw.
Batting first, STETHS made 201 for one. National Youth player Samuels scored 102 not out and was supported by other national Youth players Damion Ebanks, 45, and Ismael Parchment, 43 not out.
Christiana were struggling at 128 for seven when the rains came. Samuels and Jason Dawes picked up two wickets each.
STETHS are now in third position on four points from two matches, behind leaders Mannings (10) and Christiana (seven).
In another game, Godfrey Stewart beat Manchester by 42 runs.
Godfrey made 200 with Thompson stroking an even 100. Rohan James, 47, also got among the runs against Conroy Jacobs (6-33) and Jamie Merchant (4-48).
In reply, Manchester fell for 158. Courtney Allen, 62, topscored against Royon Moxam (3-35), Orane Scarlett (2-13) and Jomo Thompson (2-25).
