All aboard flight JMMB

THE PREMIER money market brokerage company took guests on an island hopping 'flight' last Friday, as they hosted 'Island Fever' at their headquarters on Haughton Terrace.

The entrance to the party area had a checkout counter and everything, including stamps for your passports/invitations. The stops for this flight were all the places JMMB has spread its money-making philosophy: St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and, of course, where it all started; right here in JamRock. The palm trees and food stalls (with their bamboo roofs) all looked 'islandic' enough, but the sand enclosed 'beach' area with benches was simply magnificent!

ON THE MENU

Of course, with this being a Caribbean evening, then Caribbean music should be on the turntables and Caribbean food should be on the menu. Guests had plenty of both. Over by the Island Nyammins booth, you could sample Cou-Cou and callaloo from B'dos; Dahl Roti, Bul Joh (saltfish salad) from T and T; barbeque pig's tail from St. Lucia, and roast yam, everything jerk and shrimp run down from Jamaica. If that wasn't enough, JMMB brought Aunt May's cooking all the way from Hellshire and the chefs couldn't produce the bammy and festival fast enough.

Renegades Disco got the party swinging from the beginning with its soca showcase. A big Trini Posse truck, hitherto idle, soon came to life with the tunes of the Hummingbird Steel Band. All that was left was for the region's top band, Fab 5, to ice the pastry, and they did with their usual repertoire. Lots of joy it brought the crowd to see JMMB execs 'getting down' on stage.
