Black and white birthday
published: Sunday | February 19, 2006

- WINSTON SILL/FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER
Radiant birthday girl Tanya Shirley (centre), with one of her best friends Sharlyn Wilson-Smith (left) and sister Tanice Gonsalves get together at her 'third' birthday party at the home of her parents Tannie and Madge Shirley last weekend.

TANYA SHIRLEY, daughter of businessman Tanny Shirley and his wife Madge celebrated her 'third' birthday at home with family and friends last Saturday. The poolside and lawns were decked in black and white with some interesting centrepieces and soon the area was packed with Tanya's guests wearing - you guessed it - black and white outfits.

But the birthday girl made a dramatic difference in raging red from head to perfectly manicured toes.

Highlights of the festive occasion included a scrumptious buffet of freshly baked breads, a large assortment of fruits, a dessert assortment to die for, all the savouries to feed an army and a liberally stocked bar. And then there was the music of Copper Shot that kept the crowd rocking way into the night.

A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

But what captured everyone's attention was the large plasma screen that took guests down a memory lane dotted with snapshots from the family albums. The pictures showed Tanya's life from bare bottomed baby, through childhood, the teen years and early adulthood. And all the while, beside her, scenes of the bonds of family and friendships forged over the years.
