HAVING RECENTLY demited office, former president of the Jamaica Karting Association (JKA) Dwight Moore will be all geared up to burn rubber when the association's second race meet of 2006 gets under way today at the Palisadoes raceway.
As president, Moore took a year off racing in order to have as much transparency in the organisation as possible. However, now that he is back on track, his thirst for victory is as great as ever.
Moore shook off some of the rust three Sunday's ago when he took race two of the Rotax Masters Class and now trails Mark Anthony Myers overall in second place.
"I started training back in October to return in November but that just did not happen, " Moore said.
"I have been doing a lot of physical training in the gym and also a couple of test days at the track in terms of getting my technique and line right," he said.
The driver is confident that he and his team, which comprises of himself and sons Dominic and Sean, both of whom represented the country in the Rotax Challenge last year in Indiana, have the potential to dominate the sport.
"A part of the reason I came back was for them. I think they do better with me out there and we are expecting a complete team performance to devastate the classes that we will be participating in," said a confident Moore.
That's not too far-fetched as Dominic, who had taken a five-month break due to what was deemed by his parent as a substandard school performance, returned to dominate the Rotax International class in the first week - racking up 32 points.
In the first race week of this season, juniors Collin Daley (Junior Sportsman 250lbs) and Chris Myers (125cc Shifter) finished the meet with 30 points each from three straight wins apiece.
