SANDY BAY, Clarendon:
TWO MEN and a woman who are believed to be part of a gang of thieves preying on residents in Sandy Bay, Clarendon, are now behind bars.
The identities of the accused persons have not been disclosed by the police, as they are expected to face identification parades soon.
Reports reachng The Gleaner are that between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on February 19, police from the Old Harbour Police Station went to a premises in Rose Hall, Sandy Bay, Clarendon and conducted a search. A Smith and Wesson pistol with 15 rounds, a Remington shotgun with two cartridges, and several household appliances, among other items, were discovered there.
The two men and a woman were subsequently taken into custody and charged for the find.
A police source told The Gleaner that the persons arrested are believed to be members of a gang operating between St. Catherine and Clarendon. It is also believed that they are responsible for several incidents of shooting and robbery in both parishes.
Meanwhile, residents of Rose Hall and surrounding commu-nities in Sandy Bay said they are relieved that the robbery suspects have finally been caught.
