THE POLICE will be instituting traffic changes along Old Hope Road this Saturday to accommodate the People's National Party (PNP) presidential election at Jamaica College.
Superintendent Elan Powell, head of the Police Traffic Department, told The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre yesterday that the police will be seeking to maintain a free flow of traffic in the vicinity of Jamaica College.
"No buses, trucks or any vehicle will be allowed to park on the roadway in the vicinity of Jamaica College," he said. "We will allow for drop-off by the large buses. There will be cones to provide an area for the passengers to be dropped off."
SSP Powell also said a section of Old Hope Road, in the vicinity of the People's National Party headquarters, will be closed to vehicular traffic between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the day of the Special Delegates' Conference to elect a new PNP president.
"We will be blocking off the road between Stanton Terrace and Mountain View Avenue," he said. "The alternative route to that could be through Stanton Terrace, on to Mountain View, and then back on to Old Hope Road or through Fairview Avenue, and then back on to Old Hope Road."
