And the winners are ...
published: Thursday | February 23, 2006

In December, Food threw out the challenge to readers to create original recipes using sorrel, the favourite Christmas brew. Dubbed 'So Real, So Real', the contest received many interesting recipes but the panel of judges decided that Juley Wynter-Robertson, Dorritte Brown and Celia Shakespeare were the top three.

Mrs. Wynter Robertson made a delicious dessert - Sorrel Fool and a palate-tempting Spicy Sorrel Sauce to win first prize. Ms. Brown's Sorrel Jam was a hit as was Mrs. Shakespeare's Sorrel Wine. Prizes were courtesy of SuperClubs Hotels, the Wisynco Group of Companies and J. Wray and Nephew Limited.

Mrs. Juley Wynter-Robertson receives her first prize of a trip for two to SuperClubs Breezes Runaway Bay Hotel, from The Gleaner's News Editor Byron Buckley. Mrs Wynter-Robertson won first place in the Gleaner's Christmas sorrel recipe competition. Her entries were Sorrel Fool and Spicy Sorrel Sauce.

Dorritte Brown (right), is very happy to receive her second prize of a basket of J. Wray and Nephew products from Marilyn Bennett, a representative of the company. The presentation took place at The Gleaner's North Street office.

Mrs. Celia Shakespeare (right), accepts her gift basket of Wisynco products from the Gleaner's Lifestyle Editor Barbara Ellington. Mrs. Shakespeare won for her entry of Sorrel Wine.
