( L - R ) LAIDLAW AND DOY
AFTER 13 years at Jamalco, Blossom Laidlaw, public relations and communications manager, will retire from the bauxite and alumina company on March 1.
In making the announcement, Location Manager Alberto Fabrini also announced the appointment of Brian Doy to the position of manager, public affairs, communications and government relations at Jamalco.
Mr. Fabrini lauded Mrs. Laidlaw's leadership of Jamalco's public relations department, noting that this has enabled the company to build a strong and lasting relationship with the local community, and public and private sector organisations in Jamaica.
"Her enthusiasm, commitment and integrity are deeply respected, and she leaves a lasting legacy of community development and capacity building," he said.
Mrs. Laidlaw will be retained to work on special projects for Jamalco from time to time.
With respect to Mr. Doy's appointment, Mr. Fabrini explained that this is a new role, based in Jamaica, which will include responsibility for Alcoa's interests in the wider Caribbean.
"Brian brings with him 16 years of public relations experience in Alcoa's Western Australia operations, including management of Alcoa's award winning Landcare project and public relations manager for Alcoa's three-refinery, two-mine system in Western Australia," he added.
