Governor-General of Jamaica and wife fêted

LIFE CAN be such sweet nectar when you're the head of state. No longer sitting in traffic like the rest of humanity, you're whisked away to various locations as everyone wants to host you.

And that must be the feeling of the new Governor-General and his lovely wife as they are the toast of the town at the moment (politicians and their squabbling aside).

The G-G and wife were the guests of honour of Reverend Vivian Cohen, rector of St. Margaret's Church, at a cosy little reception held on Gainsborough Avenue on a cool Sunday afternoon.

Members of the Anglican clergy, parishioners and even neighbours of the quiet community came out to see their excellencies make one of their first appearances since that eventful afternoon at King's House.

"We rejoice in the preferment that has been bestowed upon them," said Rev. Cohen as guests nodded and raised their glasses to the couple.

With the melodic sounds of Dr. Carol Ball on her ever trusty keyboard, members of the gathering took the time to give their personal congratulations, if they had not been able to do so at the swearing-in ceremony.
