Congratulations, Jerome!

LIFE MUST be pretty good if you're Jerome Maxwell. Not only were you the first Jamaican managing director of Jamalco, but after 29 years you've impressed everyone so much while bringing the company to prominence.

And now he's president, Alcoa Primary Products Group for the Caribbean and Africa.

So it was plenty of 'Congratulations Jerome' at his farewell/celebratory reception at the Terra Nova Hotel on Tuesday night. Friends, family and many colleagues turned out both to wish him well and to tell him well done.

Small banners hanging from the light fixtures had those exact words emblazoned on them; all of this seeming to take Maxwell by surprise.

A video presentation titled 'Moments With Maxwell', showed the big chap in various aspects of his life from the swim team at Ardenne High to doing treats in communities sponsored by Jamalco. Guests chuckled at his funky glasses and sideburns.

Among the guests was new Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall, who collaborated with Alcoa on various projects while still principal of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. He spoke glowingly of Maxwell.
