MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

GROUND WAS broken for the construction of the National Commercial Bank's financial centre in Mandeville on Monday. The new facility will boast state-of-the-art banking equipment to complement the host of financial services it will offer customers, according to NCB's Branch Manager, Winston Lawson.

Mayor of Mandeville, Desmond Harrison, welcomed what he termed NCB's vision and investment as a means to promote viable social and economic development in the area. "NCB has signalled a milestone in the area as it continues to be a bedrock in reconstructing and retooling for a lucrative future," said Mayor Harrison.

Custos of Manchester, Dr. Gilbert Allen, in agreement with the mayor, said, "We are pleased that the profits accrued by the organisation (NCB) is used to fund local endeavours." He praised NCB chairman, Michael Lee Chin as a stalwart in creating wealth in Jamaica.

Mr. Lee Chin told The Gleaner that the Mandeville site will enhance its established presence in the region. He noted that NCB has been part of the region's landscape since 1942 and this investment demonstrates the bank's commitment to its customers in the area.

FEATURES

Courtney Campbell, general manager, retail banking, noted that the new 15,000 square-foot NCB Mandeville branch will sit on 2.5 acres of land at 6 Perth Road. Features of the new branch will include automated banking machines, two drive-through tellers, 14 internal tellers, Internet and self-service kiosks, an express deposit facility, night deposit box, a spacious banking hall and a large parking lot.

French Campbell Sr., assistant general manager, said that construction of the facility will take approximately 14 months and will begin later this month.
