The people's sacrifice
published: Saturday | February 25, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE PROPER response from the people of Jamaica to any demand from any sport or entertainment promoter to close any school for the duration of his event is to state that the demand is unacceptable and that the action shall not be taken.

The proper response from the people of Jamaica to any threat by the promoter to cancel the event as a result of the refusal to such demand is to allow him to do so.

If the people of Jamaica are willing to sacrifice the integrity of their education system for a few quick bucks from a cricket series, then there is no hope for progress or development in this nation.

I am, etc.,

ALLAN D. FOREMAN
