Building contractor denied bail
published: Saturday | February 25, 2006

JUSTICE KAY Beckford yesterday turned down a bail application for 47-year-old building contractor Lincoln Williams who is charged with murder.

It is being alleged that Williams shot and killed a man on an escalator in New Kingston on November 16, 2004.

Williams has been remanded to return to the Home Circuit Court on March 19 when his trial will begin.

He is being represented by defence lawyers Frank Phipps, Q.C., and George Soutar.

The Crown is alleging that about 3:45 p.m. on November 16, 2004, Carlington Samuels and his employer were on the escalator when Williams began firing shots at Samuels. It is further alleged that Samuels had his hand in the air while Williams was firing the shots.

Samuels kept asking what he had done while the shots were being fired. Williams allegedly shot Samuels six times with his licensed firearm.
