Jamaica Child Evangelism Fellowship celebrates 60 years
published: Sunday | February 26, 2006

AN ENVIABLE milestone of 60 years' fruitful service was celebrated by the Jamaica Child Evangelism Fellowship (JCEF) at their annual prayer breakfast yesterday.

As the group gathered at the Medallion Hall Hotel in Kingston, the success seemed only to have fuelled them in executing their duties to Jamaica's children.

Executive director of the JCEF, Millicent Campbell, reported that in the past year over 100,000 children were reached through their various ministries, and 10,000 of them were converted to Christianity.

PRAYER FOR THE CHILDREN

Mrs. Campbell also told The Gleaner that it was very important that prayer be made for children and also for the country.

"We have to pray over our children from the time they're born, even before that, when they're in the womb," Mrs. Campbell explained. "We have to pray over them, we have to let them know we're praying over them and that is what strengthens them. That is what guides them and is what they fall back on," she said.

Child Evangelism Fellowship operates in 157 countries worldwide, and is very active in Jamaica. The group is responsible for the radio programme, Children's Bible Club; and it coordinates Good News clubs in schools, hosts '5-Day clubs' for children during the holidays, as well as holds devotions in schools and camps.
