TOP PERSONNEL from the nine Local Orga-nising Committees (LOCs) and ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc. (ICC CWC WI) continued preparations towards the event at the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Forum and CEO Council Retreat held recently in Tobago.
The retreat - a special meeting established by the CEOs of the nine host venues to build relationships and knowledge-share along with high-level officials from ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc. - was held February 12-13 and involved the discussion of various issues pertaining to the signature tournament being held in the Caribbean next year. The anti-infringement programme and the strengthening of cooperation throughout the nine host venues were among the core items on the agenda.
FORUM FOR RESOLUTIONS
A two-day CEO forum preceded the retreat and included presentations from various ICC CWC 2007 Inc. members of staff and their LOC counterparts. Project officers from the ICC CWC 2007 commercial department were among those invited to the forum and updated the CEOs on their respective portfolios - tour and travel, catering and ticketing.
"The forum is a working session, introduced by the CEOs, which is aimed at providing resolutions and consensus on operational plans for specific programmes. The commercial department was invited to provide updates, share ideas and plans for moving forward with the CEOs," explained Commercial Manager Stephen Price.
"It's also an opportunity for CEOs to express concerns, propose ideas and request further insight about any particular area of the Cricket World Cup preparations. Obviously, with many of our programmes moving towards implementation in the next few months, the CEOs determined that the Commercial Department's presence was necessary at this forum."
Catering, which has been the focus of several meetings involving the CEOs -as ICC CWC WI 2007 streamlines operations for providing food and beverage for the thousands of fans - was again a central topic for discussion.
"We spoke about opportunities for Caribbean people to get involved in the catering programme. They can do so by applying to be licensed vendors, caterers, concessionaires and hospitality service providers," added Price.
