TWENTY PERSONS have been left homeless following a fire that destroyed seven houses on Paradise Street in east Kingston early yesterday morning.

Ricardo Garrick, 22, was also killed in the same vicinity in a separate incident, which left one woman injured.

According to Sergeant Dahlia Garrick of the Constabulary Communication Network, armed assailants invaded a premises along Catherine's Street, in east Kingston. They killed one man and shot and injured a female occupant.

VERY FRUSTRATED WITH VIOLENCE

"Shortly after, explosions were heard in a tenement yard on the said street, and fire was seen," said Sergeant Garrick. "A total of 10 houses were burnt, seven of which were destroyed."

Member of Parliament for the consti-tuency, Victor Cummings, said he was "very frustrated" about continuing violence in the area.

"All I can do is support the police and encourage persons to assist the police," he said.

Mr. Cummings added that the latest incident was sad, considering that seven people were killed in the constituency just last week.

"I will now have to see how I can best raise the money to help out these families, and anyone who would like to assist, we welcome the help," he said.
