THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE PRIME PURPOSE of any good government is to secure the rights and safety of its citizens, the right to life and the pursuit of happiness in one's society. Jamaica today, under the present PNP administration, is far from recognising or achieving this. Jamaica today is not a safe place for its citizens. Mrs. Portia Simpson Miller has been an integral part of this government as a Member of Parliament since 1976 and a minister of Govern-ment since 1989, so she is guilty like all other MPs of occupa-tional incompetence.
Please be advised, Mrs. Simpson Miller, there is no time to participating in any frenzy of damage control in the PNP. The Jamaican economy cannot afford such political luxury now or in the near future. You NEED a mandate from the Jamaican people. At the top of your list should be a remarkable response to the business community. Jamaican successes depend a lot on them, crime and violence need to be brought under control. In due time, we will know if you were given a basket to carry water.
I am, etc.,
