THE EDITOR, Sir:
WE WRITE TO CONGRATULATE Mrs. Portia Simpson Miller on her history-making victory in the PNP's presidential elections on Saturday. Mrs. Miller made us feel proud as women, in the dignified manner in which she conducted herself during her campaign, even in the face of the disappointingly nasty onslaught on her person by her opponents. We hold her in high esteem amongst women who sincerely wish to see a change in this country.
She counted herself among us during our Million Woman March. Her presence alone, along with Mrs. Lorna Golding, wife of Mr. Bruce Golding, counted for a million women.
Mrs. Simpson Miller counted herself among us being the first to attend our weekly Mother Patrole Workshops for empowering women in the inner city, titled 'Tun Yuh Hand, Be Productive'. She has a way of making the least among her feel important enough to be listened to, and sometimes that is all we need.
Indeed, she has injected hope for us as a people. We at Mother In Crisis stand ready to continue to put our shoulders to the wheel with her as women with our various programmes.
I am, etc.,
