Munro for UN conference
published: Wednesday | March 1, 2006

Rayon Dyer, Gleaner Writer

BLACK RIVER, St. Elizabeth:

FOR THE third consecutive year, Munro College in St. Elizabeth has been invited to participate in the Annual United Nations Conference in New York, USA.

The conference, which is schedule to begin on Friday, March 3, will be held at the United Nations General Assembly Hall at the UN Headquarters. This year's topic is 'Global Human Rights and Responsibilities in the 21st Century'.

Speaking in an interview, staff advisor for United Nations Club and head of the English Department at Munro College, Mrs Alicia Morgan Broomfield, said that the entire school family is excited about the institution's invitation to participate in this year's conference.

"While this is not our first time going to this prestigious annual event, we are proud to be invited back to participate this year again," Mrs. Morgan Broomfield said. "Base on sponsorship support that we have received from corporate Jamaica, five of our students will be going to represent the school at the conference."

The students chosen are Courtney Cunningham, Norris Richards, Andrew Salmon, Kwame Gayle and Kersen Stephens. All are six formers and they left for the conference on Monday.

Mrs. Morgan Broomfield said that the school could not have done this without the input of the principal, Mr. Branford Gayle and vice-principal Mrs. Sonia Neil.
