Great job with tourism
published: Thursday | March 2, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I RECENTLY spent a week at the Firefly in Negril after not having visited Jamaica for 16 years. My family and I would like to tell the people of Jamaica and those involved in tourism and the Government: great job!

When I would visit in the '80s, the hustling would often become unwelcomed hassling. It was sad to see raw sewer discharges in the sea. And the roadside litter was a crying shame. It was 'too much' to bring my kids down, so we did not.

But now, a new Jamaica. Your roads from MoBay to Negril are the cleanest in the western hemisphere. Your sanitation is top-notch. And my group had not a single hassle, only pleasant encounter with anyone in-resort or in-town. I will tell my friends and my travel agent of the new Jamaica I have re-discovered. Big Up JA.

I am, etc.,
