Church group sending goodwill team to Cuba
published: Thursday | March 2, 2006

GRACE MISSIONARY Church a local assembly of the Missionary Church Association of Jamaica, in collaboration with other denominations islandwide is in the process of organising a goodwill tour of Cuba entitled 'To Cuba with Love'.

The tour will take place between August 3 and 18, and recruitment is currently in progress for up to 150 persons. The main group will be a 100-voice choir inclusive of drama and dance to stage a concert in all 14 provinces in Cuba.

For the past seven years Grace Missionary Church has been organising annual trips to Cuba. The objective has been to encourage and support the citizens of Jamaica's closest neighbour.

CROSS-CULTURAL WORK

"Teams over the years have worked and fellowshipped with the Cuban people and churches, gaining considerable experience in cross-cultural work and ministry. In the true Jamaican style they have built a very strong bond with Cuba taking good advantage of the excellent relationship between our two countries," Grace Missionary said in a statement.

It is hoped that this year's event will involve the respective embassies with support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The church is also seeking partnership with other agencies and companies in making this landmark event a success. "It is hoped that with these partnerships we will make a significant and memorable gesture of goodwill from the Jamaican people to the Cuban people."

Persons interested in becoming a part of the choir or who want to offer other kinds of assistance may contact the Cuba Mission 2006 secretariat at Grace Missionary Church, 9 West Avenue, Kingston 8 or by telephone 969-0413, 925-3214 and Mr. Curtis Campbell at 3393500 or email gracemis@cwjamaica.com.
