SAINT INTERNATIONAL unveiled the contestants for this year's 'Fashion Face of the Caribbean' on Monday night at the Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston.
Saint CEO Deiwight Peters introduced the 44 towering models who will be competing for the number one model spot, also at the Pegasus, on Sunday, March 5.
The girls modelled white tank tops and bikini bottoms, while the men wore white tees and blue jeans pants. The girls had the stereotypical model look - tall and slender - while some of the men boasted large Afros, which is slowly becoming 'the male model look'.
MODELS MAKING MARK
After introducing the contestants, Peters introduced some of his models who have been making their mark on the pages of top magazines, especially in South Africa. They included Kibwe McGann and Kanhai Condison, both of whom are currently based in South Africa.
Condison told The Gleaner that he is pleased with this year's contestants.
"I think it is a very strong batch; I see a lot of potential this year. I see about 10-15 people who can really make it overseas. This is the first time in years that I have been to the (Fashion Face of the Caribbean) and I am not surprised by the people that Deiwight chose," he said.
One of the contestants, Krystale Graham-Haynes, said entering the competition seemed like a good idea. "I was with Saint for a while and I really liked modelling, so I decided to go the rehearsals one day and I am here now. I have been loving it ever since," she said.
"There are a lot of talented girls here and I think I am right up there with them, so I think my chances are pretty good," she said confidently.
