A wish list for Madam P
published: Friday | March 3, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS IS to congratulate Madam P on her history-making feat of being the first woman to be in charge of our affairs. I am now issuing a challenge to you Madam P to start building your legacy right now by doing all or one of the following:

Remove the GCT and merge all our taxes into one taxable figure, eg., 30 per cent so that it be easier to understand that if you work $100 then $30 is for the State.

Make it compulsory for children to attend school, and any child found or seen on the street during school hours be detained and background checks done for the reason the child is not in school.

Reintroduce capital or, at least, corporal punishment so that the hardened criminal or the one planning to be one, has something to look forward to when he or she does his or her wrongs.

Use convicted prisoners to work for a stipend and establish a trust fund to assist victims and their families.

Let it be mandatory for employers to pay a premium to any category of workers who exceed the stipulated 40 hours per week.

Reduce the seats in the House of Representatives by one so that we can never have a tie.

I am, etc.,

WARREN HALL
