Valu P hold Los Perfectos
published: Friday | March 3, 2006

SANTA CRUZ:

SOUTH CENTRAL Super League champions Los Perfectos came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Valu P of St. Elizabeth, while Central Links beat Mile Gully 3-1 in two rescheduled games played in the Smirnoff Ice Super Plus Football competition in St. Elizabeth and Manchester on Wednesday.

Valu P, who needed the maximum three points to stay in contention for quarter-final place, opened the scoring in the sixth minute when striker Kirk Wright fired a powerful shot from about 40 yards out which goalkeeper Fabian Dinnal had problems holding on to.

EQUALISER

In the 73rd minute, Tyrone Walker got the equaliser for Los Perfectos after he headed a ball from a corner kick which goalkeeper Jiovani Sinclair misjudged and parried over the goal line. Valu P looked the better team throughout the first 45 minutes, creating a number of chances but failed to put them away. In the 33rd minute, Richard Barrett could have put his team ahead and minutes later he got another clear opportunity which he also missed.

On the other hand, Los Perfectos launched numerous attacks and looked dangerous in patches, but suffered because of poor finishing.
