Biggs and McKenzie shine for Sp Town

SPANISH TOWN'S Phillip Biggs and Junior McKenzie, along with Norman Manley's Ryan Francis and Mona's Keron Davis, scored centuries in first-round matches of the 2006 Jamaica International Insurance Company KO cricket competition this week.

At Spanish Town Community Centre, Biggs (102) and McKenzie (100) put on 205 runs for the second wicket to help Spanish Town to 278-2 off their allotted 40 overs.

In reply, Waterford were restricted for 186-9. Van-Der Rowe, 51, and Marlon Hoilette, 50, got the most runs for Waterford.

CAMPION BEATEN

At Campion College, Francis scored 108 in Norman Manley's 367-7 as they beat Campion by 259 runs. Sidue Hunter also got 87 for Norman Manley.

At Mona, Davis' 120 carried Mona to 332-8, to which Tivoli replied with 229.

At Eltham, the hosts scored 61-1 to beat José Marti, 60, by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, Meadowbrook, 120-5, beat Pembroke Hall, 117, by five wickets; Bridgeport, 143, beat St. George's College, 113, by 30 runs.

At Mico College, St. Andrew Technical (STATHS), 162-7, beat Wolmer's, 161, by three wickets.

Second-round matches will be played on Tuesday.

In another game, Holy Trinity and Innswood played to an exciting tie, both teams scored 176.

Meanwhile, in a recent 'A' team semi-final, Mona advanced to the final with first innings points over Pembroke Hall.

Mona, led by Mardio Grandstand's 226 and Kevin Hamilton's 151, scored 560-6 declared. Grandstand hit 29 fours and two sixes in his innings while Hamilton crashed 16 fours and three sixes.

In reply, Pembroke were blown away for 121 with Keron Davis, 4-13, and Phillip Smith, 2-28, claiming the best figures.

Opting for batting practice, Mona reached 180-7.

Mona will now play Tarrant in the final set for Tuesday and Wednesday at Melbourne Oval.
