THE EDITOR, Sir:
JAMAICA IS moving further and furhter into a state of immorality where family values are going to the dogs - if not already gone to the dogs. The frequent incidence of brutal murders taking place is living proof that we are certainly not the Jamaica we once knew.
It was the sentiments of some that they had nothing to worry about, that if they abide by the laws of the land, go to church and do a good deed every once in a while, they would be spared the wrath of criminal elements.
This has proven to be so far-fetched, considering even the recent news of the two women and four children who were massacred. It is hard to fathom why anyone would want to commit such an act on anyone, much more babies!
For the demoralisation of our society to discontinue, we need to do more than have an annual prayer breakfast, or turn to church leaders for help and blame them for what is happening.
We need to re-educate our people with the norms and values of yesteryears where one didn't just kill as a way to pass the time, but work together for the greater good of the community.
Without this, I might have to consider migrating to a cave somewhere because I fear that it will be dangerous to live anywhere!
I am, etc.,
