Venue Summit VIII bowls off today
published: Monday | March 6, 2006

THE VENUE Summit VIII for next year's Cricket World Cup in the region begins today and runs until next Wednesday with several venue integration sessions taking place among key groups, including CEOs and Venue Development Managers of the Local Organising Com-mittees (LOCs), the Design Team, the Sports Agronomy Team, the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Global Cricket Corporation (GCC), Gameday Management, Nimbus Sport International and staff from ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc.

Over 130 regional and international delegates will be participating in the Venue Summit VIII and related meetings, as the region marks the one-year countdown to ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.

Much of this Venue Summit will focus on the integration of stadium planning with event operations and various commercial programmes such as Ticketing and Licensing & Merchandising.

"With exactly one year to go to warm-up matches, stadium planning for Cricket World Cup is about to reach high gear as we integrate venue-development plans with all the stakeholders who will use the stadiums in 2007," explained ICC CWC 2007 Venue Development Director Donald Lockerbie.

"There will be a number of integration meetings involving Cricket World Cup departments to ensure we all understand their venue needs and requirements. We will also be finalising overlay planning for each venue, as well as getting an update on the Pitch & Field programme."

Among the other meetings taking place at the Hilton Kingston Hotel are the first VIP & Protocol Meeting next Friday and the fourth Medical, Health & Anti-Doping Directorate meeting to be chaired by Dr. Marion Bullock-DuCasse next Thursday and Friday. The CEO Council is also slated to meet on Thursday.
