Potential murderers
published: Wednesday | March 8, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHAT FACE are we looking into? What is behind those eyes that meet ours as we pass on the road every day? Do we under-stand how lucky we are to arrive safely at home? Do we under-stand how lucky we are when our children get home safely from school or church?

When horror and murder stalk our land, dressed as young men perched on walls and standing on street corners, is it not a miracle that so many of us are still here, living, working, going to and fro, watching as our children grow from year to year unscathed, at least, physically?

Was God watching when somebody's beloved and precious son was murdered while walking home from church? If we are unlucky, as so many have become recently, and a loved one is murdered, one of our own sons or daughters, do we not feel murderous as well?

I know that we are all potential murderers. It is just that some are more potentially so than others.

I am, etc.,

SADAN TAYAD

Kingston
