CHANTILLY PRIMARY School located in Manchester, on Monday launched its inaugural Essay and Art Competition. The competition is the brainchild of a past student, Osmond Henry.
Speaking at the launch, which was held on the school grounds, Mr. Henry said the competition was one component of the major project, which is the construction of an additional classroom at the school, and in the long-term will include a computer laboratory.
LASTING IMPACT
The idea, he said, was developed when he and other classmates at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), decided that they wanted to not only embark on a project that would result in much more than a grade, but would have a lasting impact on the society.
A very elated Doreen Colquhoun, school principal, was overcome with emotion as she paid tribute to Henry and Daphne Gordon, patrons of the school and in whose honour the competitions are been held. "Today is a historic day in Chantilly, as through this means we are able to expose the children to a new level of education."
