JOCKEY WILBERT Gobay has been slapped with a four-day suspension and $5,000 fine by the operations stewards for improper riding aboard LISA'S RIGG in the ninth race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, February 25, resulting in the disqualification of his mount.
Gobay was penalised for interferences caused to CHAMBA KOO and RAJMIR in the final 100 metres of a 1600-metre race won by JACK DE FREAK.
His mount passed the post second but was subsequently disqualified and placed fourth behind RAJMIR. Gobay's suspension takes effect this Saturday, March 18.
OTHER ACTIONS
Other disciplinary actions taken by the stewards at the Winchester Road offices of the Racing Commission last week are as follow:
Jockey Robert Stewart who rode JEDI ROCKET in the fourth race on Saturday, March 4 was suspended for three racedays and fined $3,000 for interference caused to IKAS approaching the half-mile point of the course. His suspension takes effect this Saturday.
Jockey Paul Francis, who passed the post first aboard THE AMERICAN GAL in the seventh race on Wednesday, February 22, was suspended for three racedays and fined $3,000 for interference caused to third past the post TOCUMEN in the final 100 metres of the James B. Dawes Memorial Cup feature, resulting in the disqualification of THE AMERICAN GAL.
Francis' suspension will start this Saturday.
Jockey Andron Findlay who rode ROYAL SEA in the sixth race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, February 18 was suspended for two racedays and fined $2,000 for the interference caused to TOCUMEN in the final 100 metres. His suspension took effect last Saturday.
Jockey Leo Miller who rode KING OF THE BAND in the ninth race on Wednesday, February 22, picked up a one-day suspension for interference caused to QUEEN M FRENCH and MAMA'S BOY in the final 300 metres. He has been stood down for Saturday, March 18.
Jockey Phillip Clunis who rode LADY BALLARI in the ninth race on Saturday, March 4 was suspended for one raceday and fined $2,000 for interference caused to HADDO at the 800-metre point. His suspension embraces Saturday.
Jockey Trevor Simpson who rode SEATTLE'S GIRL in the ninth race on Saturday, February 18 was fined $2,000 for drifting out his mount in the straight.
Another $2,000 fine was imposed on Simpson that same day for drifting out 10th race winner SAID I SAID I in the final 250 metres.
