Stop talking rubbish
published: Wednesday | March 15, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

RECENTLY, WHILE watching the local television news, I saw the head of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Errol Greene, lamenting how local police officers were being sidelined by British cops in our fight against crime.

According to Mr. Greene, the Jamaican police are fully able to deal with the problem.

I am not sure which planet Mr. Greene lives on. However, if he had ever heard of an island called Jamaica, he would have heard that its crime situation had spiralled out of controlled.

Simply put, the Jamaican police could not solve crime. This was so obvious that even the Government saw it. That is why they were forced to get the British cops to do the job.

It is clear that Mr. Greene knows nothing about our crime crisis. While it is very debatable as to whether he is good at collecting rubbish, based on what he had to say about our police, I think he is excellent at talking rubbish!

Mr. Greene, do us all a favour - stick to taking rubbish, not talking it.

I am, etc.,

MICHAEL A. DINGWALL
