Doc on rape charge faces trial May 8

DR. MATT Myrie who is accused of raping a patient at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in February 2004 is to be tried on May 8.

The trial date was set when the 32-year-old gynaecologist appeared in the Home Circuit Court yesterday.

The Crown alleges that the offence was committed in the ultrasound room at the hospital where Dr. Myrie was stationed. Dr. Myrie is on bail in the sum of $500,000 with surety.

He is being represented by attorneys-at-law Bert Samuels and Jacqueline Samuels-Brown.
