THE OFFICE of the Inter-national Cricket Council 2007 Cricket World Cup (CWC) has announced 20 official travel agencies for the tournament to be played in the West Indies.
The 20 companies from 11 countries across the globe including two from host venues - Barbados and Jamaica - are in the first batch of official travel agents approved to sell tour and travel packages, inclusive of match tickets, for the tournament to be played from March 11 to April 28, 2007.
Commercial manager for the tournament, Stephen Price, listed Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Canada, India, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and the United States as the countries in which official travel agents have been appointed to date.
CONTRACTS
Price stressed that more will come on stream as contracts are finalised. He also warned fans to avoid unofficial agents, which are purporting to be official travel agents or ticket agents but which are not on the official list.
John Davison of Cricket Logistics 2007, the official tours and travels partner, said he was happy equally happy to welcome the official travel agents World Cup family.
"We have had an unprecedented number of applications from across the world and, after very careful selection criteria, these agents have been appointed.
They are the sole persons or organisations who are authorised to offer tour and travel packages for the tournament for sale and fans should only purchase packages from them," he said.
The official travel agents are: Australian Sports Tours, Carib-bean Destinations and Fanatics of Australia; St. James Tours and Travel of Barbados; C Travel Co. Ltd, and Meyer Franklin of Bermuda; Tourcan Vacations of Canada; Friends Globe of India; Travel Unlimited of Jamaica; Warwick Beatson, and Williment Travel from New Zealand; Edusport Travel, and Executive and Sport Travel of South Africa; George Stuarts of Sri Lanka; Best at Travel/Sporting Journeys, Gullivers Sports Travel, ITC Sports, Taj Tours and Travel, and The Cricket Tour Company of the United Kingdom; and Citi-World Travelmart of the United States.
