Battle at the polls
published: Saturday | March 18, 2006

Mai'khi C'Nia

AND IT came to pass that a lone voice crescendoed from the political hinterland, exhorting all Labourites to be diligent in preparing to do battle with the Comrades at the polls. Yea, this is Big D the mightiest Labourite in all Jamdown, e'en more powerful than the baker himself, and he was tired of being second in a two-horse race.

Now Big D hath developed a rather unpalatable habit of being overzealous when he is amongst his fellow Labourites, and he was true to form when he addressed a gathering with much gusto and passion on the day of the sun. And his pronouncements caused a nervous tension to course through the land, for when 'ticians on the rock exert a certain anxiety, the fallout tends to be utterly debilitating.

Hear oh Jamdown, for these are the days when thou art experiencing major changes in thy political outlook, and this era offers thee the explicit opportunity to right much which is askew therein. But many amongst ye art not genuinely committed to upliftment of the people through the use of authority, as much as they art interested in acquiring command unto themself for personal assuage.

Behold, Big D declared that he was prepared to extend himself to the utmost, in order to change the political fortunes of Labour. Verily I say to ye, such timbre is akin to throwing a glowing matchstick to a keg of gunpowder, it is highly reckless and downright perilous. For many a political hack hangs on to every word uttered by the political showmen, and it is they who interpret words such as these as a declaration of war, and they will arbitrarily convert a healthy political atmosphere into wholesale bloodletting. Hear ye, take this opportunity to effectively shut them down, lest they again rise up against thee with their dastardliness, and thy days shall be filled with mourning.

DEATH SENTENCE

But Big D also expressed himself on the issue of the death sentence, and if it was up to him those that slaughter the innocents and place the nation's future in jeopardy would be fodder for the hangman's occupation. Verily I say to ye, it is laudable that the mayor of Kingston Town articulate such conviction where that is concerned, but what of them that art found guilty of slaying other than children?

For there can be no quarter given to them that art wreaking havoc upon the society, and thy stance must be definitive and true, there can be no room for speculation or contemplation. If thou art in support of capital punishment then be forceful in thy endorsement, if thou art not, then say so and articulate thy idea of what thou consider to be the appropriate measure to apply in this day.

Dearly beloved, it is written that a little child shall assume the lead. Behold, a group of small warriors at Mona, unequivocal in defiance and laying down the gauntlet on national television. These are they who shall serve this nation with distinction, for their life is strident in its tough lessons and they art being schooled in the ways of surviving a pitiless environment. Yea, they will mature into vast wisdom and street smarts, they will be nobody's pushover, nor will they be gullible or naive. Verily I say to thee, the nation's future is secure in the hands of such as these.

Take heart ye land, and focus on that which shall bring ye solace, for amidst thy darkness there is evidence that bright sparks still abide amongst thee, and they art toiling to make thy power grow. Selah.
