PASTOR PHILLIP Phinn intends to be more public in declaring prophecy as it affects the nation and the Christian community.
Having predicted from as early as 2000 that Portia Simpson Miller would be the next Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Rev. Dr. Phinn told The Gleaner that long before the next general election, himself and a team of local prophets will be announcing the results to the public.
He will be leading the team of prophets on a 'prophetic test' in which they will pray in each constituency and thereby sense what the poll result will be. This kind of sifting, he said, is not new as it is similar to what the prophet Samuel did in 1 Samuel 16.
In that Scripture, Samuel exercised prophetic discernment to know which of Jesse's sons was the one whom God had chosen to be King. As the Scripture narrative shows, it was not until he examined Jesse's eighth son, David, that he knew whom the Lord wanted him to anoint as Israel's King.
Dr. Phinn, who is the senior pastor at the Word of Life Ministries International, which meets at 20 Hagley Park Plaza in St. Andrew, told The Gleaner that a similar prophetic test was employed on February 12 this year by himself and other local prophets to confirm who would be the next Prime Minister of Jamaica.
PRAYERS
They prayed, he said, for Drs. Karl Blythe, Omar Davies, Peter Phillips, but did not sense from God that any of those persons would be the next Prime Minister. It was only when they prayed concerning Mrs. Simpson Miller that they sensed confirmation that she would the next Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Minister Simpson Miller, Dr. Phinn said, heard from other prophets local and foreign that she would be the next Prime Minister of Jamaica.
According to Dr. Phinn these prophets have included: Prophet Leslie Roberts from Trinidad; Prophet Earl Stanley from Texas; Prophet Karl Christian from Montego Bay; Prophet Patrick Williams in Kingston; Prophetess Sharon Anderson and Prophetess Michelle Silvera.
According to Pastor Phinn, the Lord said to him and other prophets last December, "Know this much, saith the Lord, that when I shall bring and establish Portia Simpson Miller to lead the nation of Jamaica, that I shall usher a season of peace, for a season as never before seen under the leadership of a man, and cannot be questioned or challenged by any man, educated or otherwise, saith the Lord God."
He said both Opposition Leader Bruce Golding and Portia Simpson Miller are God-fearing individuals who respect prophecy and who have a lot of regard for the Church.
"I believe that if Bruce patiently waits until Minister Simpson Miller finishes her term (as Prime Minister) then he will have his turn. (Last week Mind & Spirit reported Pastor Phinn's declaration that Mrs. Simpson Miller will lead the People's National Party to
victory at the next general
election.)
MOUTHPIECE OF GOD
According to Pastor Phinn, "the prophet is really like the mouthpiece of God. The prophet hears from God and speaks on behalf of God.
The prophet is also like the eyes of God to the nation, to the Church, to the community whatever sphere that the Lord put that prophet. The prophet does foretell not just forthtell. No one will regard you as a prophet until you begin to move in accurate predictions."
Citing 1 Samuel 9:9, he said a prophet used to be called a seer. "A seer is one who sees and knows things supernaturally," he said. Alluding to the book of Ephesians, he said the prophet is one of the fivefold leadership ministries given by God for the effective witness of the Church. The other four being: apostle, pastor, teacher and evangelist.
