St Catherine take aim at St Elizabeth
published: Saturday | March 18, 2006

ST. CATHERINE CC take aim at St. Elizabeth as they look to extend their lead atop the Supreme Ventures Super Cup, starting at 10:00 a.m. this morning at Ched-win Park.

Spinners Bevan Brown, who had a 10-wicket haul in St. Catherine's win last weekend for his third five-wicket haul this season, along with his leg-spinning partner Odean Brown, who has two five-wicket hauls to date, should once again lead the Saints' attack.

There will also be West Indies paceman Jermaine Lawson and the capable Oneil Richards, along with part-timer Tamar Lambert. The batting line-up includes Lambert, Danza Hyatt and Keith Hibbert.

St. Elizabeth have some talented players in Brenton Parchment, Shawn Findlay, Damion Ebanks and Shane Powell, who have already stamped their class on the league with good knocks. There is also Howard Powell, who has contributed over the years with bat and ball. Ainsley Goss, Conroy Miller, Wayne Simpson and Findlay will spearhead the bowling attack.

After losing first innings points to Kingston's Tigers, St. Catherine have bounced back to beat champions Manchester and Lucas and are now on 13 points, three ahead of Melbourne.

In the meantime, Melbourne lead Kingston by one point after taking first innings points off Manchester and losing first-innings points to Westmoreland, and defeating St. Mary.

After three rounds, other leading teams are the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) on eight, Manchester (seven) and St. Elizabeth (seven).
