Wins for Wolmer's, Old Harbour
published: Sunday | March 19, 2006

WOLMER'S BOYS and Old Harbour registered massive wins over St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Port Antonio, respectively as first-round action in the KFC/ISSA High School National Championships continued across the island on Friday.

Wolmer's launched their bid for a chance to lift the national crown in impressive fashion when they easily brushed aside Central Conference team STETHS 83-39 at the National Stadium courts.

BOUNCED BACK

Their top two-guard Kerron Caine seems to have bounced back from a disappointing showing in the finals of the Southern Conference as he poured in 42 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in his team's victory.

Things were just as easy for Northern Conference top guns Old Harbour as they blasted their way past Eastern Conference top team Port Antonio 93-31 at the Folly Oval.

For the second game in a row, Phillip Reid led the way for the Northerners with a 37-point performance.

On Wednesday, they scorched Jamaica College in a 75-55 victory at the G. C. Foster College. Their 2-0 record has now guaranteed them a place in the quarter-finals.

IMPRESSIVE FORM

The Old Harbour Under-16 team was in even more impressive form as, led by a triple double of 36 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists from guard Bradley Bogul, it embarrassed Port Antonio 131-9.

Central Conference third-place team Belair also rallied to stun Southern Conference runners-up St. George's College 38-34.

St. Jago and Ardenne have to wait to get their first round started as both the under-19 and under-16 Ocho Rios teams failed to show up for their games.
