RACINE JOHNSON'S brace against Wolmer's Girls yesterday all but ensured St. Andrew High School a place in the final of the Jamaica Hockey Federation Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association Under-16 girls Division One hockey competition.
Playing at the Mona field, Wolmer's, who had two wins from three games, needed to win against St. Andrew to give themselves a chance at making the Division One final.
Instead, the 2-0 loss gave St. Andrew 12 points with one game to go before the final, while Wolmer's, who are still on six, have two games to go.
At best, Wolmer's can get on even keel with the St. Andrew team and they will have to hope St. Andrew lose their last game.
QUEEN'S EDGE IMMACULATE
In another game played yesterday, Queen's eked out a 1-0 win over Immaculate Conception High School meaning that they, with 16 points from five games, have already ensured themselves a place in the final.
In the day's other game, The Convent of Mercy Academy 'Alpha' and St. Hugh's failed to get on the scoreboard in a 0-0 draw.
Thus, the final line-up will more than likely be Queen's versus St. Andrew, while the third and fourth play-off is expected to be contested between Wolmer's and St. Hugh's.
The boys' semi-finals will take centre stage today with Papine taking on Campion at 2:00 p.m and Munro College playing Jamaica College an hour later.
In the girls' Division One, Immaculate and Wolmer's Girls square off at 4:00, while Excelsior play St. Andrew in the final game at 5:00.
