THE LIONS Club of Mandeville will be staging the eighth annual 'Men Who Cook 2006' fund-raiser on Sunday March 26, at the Alpart Complex in Spur Tree, Manchester.
Since the first staging in 1998, the event has grown in size and popularity. The number of participants has swelled and guests journey from all over the island to enjoy the salubrious Manchester climate as well as the variety of dishes prepared. It has also become an event for the entire family with many attractions for children.
'Men Who Cook 2005' saw over 1,300 guests
in attendance, and organisers hope to better that figure this year.
The 'chefs' will demonstrate their culinary prowess in preparing dishes like barbecued shrimp, suckling pig, curried chicken, oxtail, fish fillet, sweet and sour chicken, curried goat as well as some vegetarian and Indian dishes.
Among the men who will be cooking this Sunday are: Health Minister John Junor, Albert Lowe of Food to Go, John Minot, senior managing director of Jamaica Standard Products, Woodrow Mitchell, managing director of Walkers Wood, Mohan Jagnarie of Dewines Grill, Vando Palmer, Dr. Peter Wellington, S.M.O. Mandeville Regional Hospital, Winston Lawson, branch manager of NCB Mandeville, Dwight Moore of KIA Motors, Councillor Don Creary and Errol Coleman of FX Traders.
The day promises to be intriguing as Jamaican men prove their competence not just with knives and forks but behind the stove.
