THE EDITOR, Sir: THE DEBATE about allowing more citizens to bear firearms is good as to purpose, but worrying as to process. Now the gun-toter needs not buy a gun. He can take it from his neighbour. The preoccupation with doing wrong is never matched by.


Do not deny our history
THE EDITOR, Sir: I HEARD with sadness the statements of politicians in St. Elizabeth that we should be ashamed of our foreparents in slavery. The history of how we came to be scattered Africans around the world, especially in the western hemisphere...


Reclaiming a piece of Port Royal
THE EDITOR, Sir: REFERRING TO the letter 'Jamaican historical item for sale in Edinburgh' of March 22, 2006 by Maggie Vaughn, who said that "a tortoise shell case and two combs, made in Port Royal around 1670" are to be auctioned this June in Edinburgh.


Standing for the right
