published: Tuesday | March 28, 2006

TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (CMC):

At least 13 Jamaicans have been arrested in the British Virgin Islands on the weekend as law enforcement authorities clamp down on persons residing here illegally.

The Jamaicans were arrested for overstaying their landing permits and the authorities said some of them were also working illegally.

Acting Chief Immigration Officer, Malvern Brathwaite, said that the Jamaicans would be prosecuted and would be deported following their court appearances.
