Sean Paul still burnin'
published: Thursday | March 30, 2006

Kavelle Anglin Christie, Staff Reporter

Sean Paul

SEAN PAUL hit the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, for the third time last week with his song Temperature.

Sean Paul previously enjoyed the top spot on the chart with Get Busy and Baby Boy featuring Beyoncé from his previous album Dutty Rock.

Temperature, which is the second single off Sean's album, The Trinity, spent 11 weeks on the charts, but more importantly, it is fast approaching platinum status in the United States and has sold more than $1 million copies outside of the United States.

UP FOUR SPOTS

The Trinity also climbed four spots on the Billboard Top 200 album charts - from 29 to 25, after 25 weeks on the charts. The album debuted at number seven in late September, with 107,000 copies sold in the first week. This is a U.S. sales record for a Jamaican artiste.

The success of Temperature has cemented Sean Paul's title as the most successful Jamaican artiste on the U.S. charts. He has gained three number-one singles, five Top-Ten hits, and eight chart entries. Some of his other top ten hits include Gimme the Light, and The Trinity's first single, We Be Burnin.

AWARDS

Over a short period of time, Sean Paul already has a backlog of prominent awards. These include, a Grammy for the Best Reggae Album for Dutty Rock in 2003, the MTV Europe's Best New Artiste Award, MOBO and International and World Music awards.

He is currently touring the U.S. and afterwardwill be heading to South Africa for shows. Up to press time Sean could not be reached for comment on the accomplishment.
