"A MAN of boundless energy, great creativity, confidence and wit."
That was how Ambass-ador Peter King was described by outgoing Prime Minister P.J. Patterson during yesterday's funeral service for the former trade ambassador and Government adviser at the St. Andrew Parish Church.
"I regard this as a sad day for all of us," the Prime Minister said, adding that King was "a constant figure who has served our country well, the Caribbean and the developing world."
"Let nothing obscure the great contribution he had made to the Jamaican society for the 63 years that he lived," Patterson added.
An emotional Julian King, accompanied by his mother, described his father as "the best father a boy could ever have".
He said: "I have spent the last 36 years knowing how much and how deeply my father loved me."
Overcome with grief and with tears in his voice, he recalled the numerous adventures he had with his father and said his father had the ability to be at ease with people from all walks of life.
PATRIOTIC JAMAICAN
"Peter King is a patriotic Jamaican and this situation cannot be accepted as a norm," said Reverend Alfred C. Reid, who delivered the sermon. "Amidst the speculation some people think they know the whole story but only God knows the whole story and that's why he is the Judge."
Mr. King was found murdered at his Waterloo Road, St. Andrew, home on March 20. He was stabbed several times and his throat slashed.
