What's up at Air Jamaica?

THE EDITOR, Sir:
OVER THE years, we have seen Air Jamaica go through many transitions, as the owners try to reinvent the airline to make it more marketable and appealing to the public. When Gordon 'Butch' Stewart acquired Air Jamaica, he made it his duty (up until the day he returned the airline to the Government) to inform the public of his plans. However, since then, we barely get any press release of intentions and directions they would like to see the airline go, other than to just make profits.
It would be nice to know of information regarding route expansion, fleet renewal, among other things. I also feel that Air Jamaica needs to change the visual image of the airline. For the last 12 years, the airline has had a very colourful and impressive livery. However, I do feel it is time for a change. The airline needs a livery that reflects its future and also reflects Jamaica. Maybe for the first time the airline could consider using Jamaica's national colours of black, green and gold. It is time to get creative.
