Enumeration campaign among busiest ever - Walker
published: Friday | March 31, 2006

WALKER

DANVILLE WALKER, Director of Elections, has called the nationwide enumeration campaign which concludes today, one of the busiest ever.

The campaign targeted persons who wanted to make it on to the May 31 voters' list.

"Things have been very busy this week. If it's not the busiest, then it is one of the busiest ever," he said.

Throughout the week, The Gleaner visited or contacted the Electoral Office of Jamaica's constituency offices across the island. In every case, the returning officers reported that the offices were crowded with persons seeking to get themselves enumerated.

During a visit to the St. Catherine Central constituency office at Brunswick Avenue in Spanish Town, a large group of women showed up dressed in orange from head to toe. "A woman time now. Portia time now. We as woman haffi represent fi di big woman," said one of the females.
