Go fly a kite
published: Saturday | April 1, 2006

It's kite-flying season for these youngsters in St. Ann. - File

RELIVE YOUR childhood kite-flying years with your son or daughter at today's Mona Kiddie's Kite Festival 2006, 'Let It Fly'.

'Let It Fly', in its fifth year, will be at the Mona Heights Community Centre grounds in St. Andrew commencing at 10:00 a.m.

The festival, managed and promoted by the Action Plan Promotions Limited in association with the Mona Heights Citizens' Association is to foster parent-child bonding. "The event is geared towards strengthening ties between father son and mother daughter. By doing together kite techniques such as making and flying kites," said the festival spokesperson Barrington Bucknor.

Kites flown in from overseas as well as those locally-made will be on display and for sale. Other than kites the festival will feature kiddies games and attractions such as bounce-about, clowns and kite making, kite-flying contests.

Some patrons will also win prizes and surprises from the organisers and sponsors spotting father son and mother daughter at the festival.

Last year more than 5,000 persons attended the festival so Mr. Bucknor expects that this year's event will also be a wonderful occasion. "We expect that it is going to be a marvellous event, being a full-fledged family fun day in the community." Admission: adults $200, children $100.
