Portia apologises to Golding
published: Saturday | April 1, 2006

PRIME MINISTER Portia Simpson Miller has expressed regret that no seating arrangements were made for Leader of the Opposition, Bruce Golding and his wife at her swearing-in ceremony at King's House on Thursday.

Mr. Golding and his wife, Lorna left the ceremony shortly after they arrived when they realised that no reserved seating was available for them.

The Jamaica Labour Party had also called for a public apology following the incident.

Mrs. Simpson Miller, shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of her 14-member Cabinet, said she would be speaking with Mr. Golding on the matter.

"It's really unfortunate, our senior leaders must be treated with all the respect that they deserve and I would like to extend on behalf of the Government a public apology to the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Bruce Golding," she said.
