THE FIFTH annual Youthlink Examination Technique seminars are set to begin tomorrow in Kingston. The seminars are being conducted to aid students in their preparations for their May examinations.
"The Gleaner has been holding these seminars through its Youthlink magazine because we recognise the need that exists for support to be given to what is provided within the school system," said Karin Cooper, corporate affairs manager at The Gleaner Company Limited.
She added that one of the advantages of the seminars is that lessons are taught by markers of the selected subject at the CXC.
"They give really good tips to the students on what the markers look for when they are marking the exams. So the seminars will focus on the techniques as to how best to do the subjects that they are marking," added Mrs. Cooper.
EXAMINATION TECHNIQUES
Students will be taught examination techniques in the subject areas of mathematics, English language, principles of accounts and information technology. Those attending the seminars are being asked to pay a registration fee of $200 and must have a coupon published in the Youthlink when registering.
Seminars will be held in Kingston at the Girl Guides Association of Jamaica headquarters, 2 Waterloo Road; in Montego Bay at the Civic Centre; and in Westmoreland at the Sean Lavery Faith Hall, 26 Lewis Street, Savanna-la-Mar.
Registration for the seminars to be held in Montego Bay on April 11 and 12 and Westmoreland on April 13, closes on Wednesday. All seminars start at 8:00 a.m. Summary notes from the teachers at the seminars will also be published in the Youthlink magazine tomorrow.
