KNIGHT
FORMER MINISTER of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Mr. K. D. Knight, Q.C. appeared Thursday in the Court of Appeal where he announced that he had returned to his law practice.
Mr. Knight who was robed in his silk gown received a very warm welcome from the Bench and the several lawyers who were in court.
He said he was looking forward to appearing before the Court of Appeal. He joked that if he were properly 'provoked' he would soon be appearing before that court.
Mr. Knight had not been practising for the last 17 years as he had been in politics since that time. He was a senior partner in the law firm Knight Pickersgill and Dowding before he went into politcs. He will be returning to the firm.
He resigned last week from the Cabinet. Mr. Justice Seymour Panton who was presiding in court brought Mr. Knight up to date on some of the new procedures which were taking place in the court system. He said that the focus of the Court of Appeal was to dispose of cases expeditiously.
The judge lamented the fact that despite the large volume of appeal cases, the number of judges in the Court of Appeal had not increased since the last 40 years.
Mr. Knight assured the court that he had knowledge that there were plans to increase the number of judges.
