Proud of PM Simpson Miller
published: Tuesday | April 4, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

TODAY, AS I eagerly read the story of The Honourable Portia Simpson Miller taking the oath of office, I became overwhelmed with emotion. I was touched with a sense of pride and inspiration. Although I only met her on two occasions, I felt I had known her all my life. Her level of perseverance is beyond one's expectation, but it is her allegiance to serve the nation, that sets the standard for her to be our representative among other world leaders.

As Jamaicans living in Jamaica and in foreign countries, the sensible thing for us to do is to support her for the betterment of our country, the benefits of which could be notable internal and external advancement. We all have ideas and even though our ideas may not be ideal for some, we should be flexible enough to adjust. Today is a new beginning with a promising tomorrow, and with the Honourable Portia Simpson Miller at the helm - 'All On Board?' The journey has begun and she needs more than a few good people to assist her. She needs the nation to be at her side and work with her. Together we can work towards overcoming some of the obstacles we are faced with.

I am, etc.,
